FAQS ABOUT WORKING WITH A DIETICIAN

What is the difference between a Registered Dietitian and a nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian is a health professional who completed a four year Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition by a recognized university followed by an accredited internship for a year, and was successful in passing of a registering exam to obtain their license. Dietitians also have to complete continuing education annually and are strictly regulated by a governing body. All Registered Dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are Registered Dietitians. The label “nutritionist” is not regulated and can be used by anyone regardless of education or experience.

Can I only see the Dietitian for skin concerns, or can I get help with other nutrition concerns?

Our Dietitian service is not only limited to skin concerns! Though our Dietitian is very involved in providing consultation for skin concerns and how diet can impact that, you can book an appointment with the Dietitian for other reasons. Some common reasons are general healthy eating, learning about specific nutrients for your diet, supplements, meal plans, chronic disease, digestive issues, food intolerances, etc. If there is something specific you want to see the Dietitian about, you can contact us prior to booking.

Can I use my health insurance benefits to cover the cost of Dietitian?

Yes, if you have extended health coverage, Dietitian fees may be covered. We recommend checking your plan prior to booking. We will provide an invoice with all the information you need to submit for reimbursement.

Do you offer meal plans?

Yes, this is an additional service outside of an initial consultation, and we offer a package for this including an initial consultation, meal plan package of 4 or 8 weeks digitally and a 30 minute follow up appointment to check in on progress. If this is of interest, please reach out directly prior to booking.

Do I need a physician referral to see a Dietitian?

No, you are able to book an appointment online without a referral.

How often should I see a Dietitian?

This depends completely on what your goals are. We typically recommend having an initial consultation and booking a follow up so you can assess your progress and build upon your goals. Our Dietitian will certainly discuss what may work best for you.

EXTENDED HEALTH BENEFITS COVERAGE FOR DIETITIAN SERVICES

Our Dietitian services may be covered by your extended health benefits.

If your extended benefits plan covers Dietitian services, we are able to provide an invoice for your session so that you may submit for reimbursement.
